Life DNA: Time & Places Privacy Policy
What we collect, and only when you allow it
- Location, while the app is open. Used to find places near you and to work out where a visit happened. Life DNA: Time & Places does not track you in the background.
- Photo date and place, for photos you pick yourself. Read on your device. The photos themselves are never uploaded for analysis.
- Check-ins and corrections you make. Whatever you tell us outranks whatever we guessed.
- Account details. Your email address, or the identifier Apple or Google gives us.
- Profile and photos you add for Social mode, if you choose to turn it on.
What we do with it
We turn it into a picture of your interests and where your time goes, and into place recommendations. If you turn on Social mode, we compare coarse, derived features — category overlap, rough free-time rhythm — to suggest people. We never share the underlying evidence.
How long we keep it
Raw coordinates are kept briefly and then deleted or coarsened once we have derived a visit from them. Derived visits and summaries are kept while your account exists. Deleting your account removes both.
Who we share it with
We do not sell your data and we do not use it for advertising. Life DNA: Time & Places carries no advertising SDK. Service providers who host our database and deliver notifications process data on our behalf under contract.
To name the places you visit, the coordinates of a stay are sent to map lookup services — OpenStreetMap's Overpass API and, where needed, Google Places. Only the coordinate and a search radius leave our servers: no account, no name, no e-mail, nothing that identifies you.
Your controls
- Privacy Center inside the app shows every permission and what it is used for.
- Hide me returns you to Silent mode instantly.
- Export your data from Settings → Account.
- Delete your account and data — see Delete your Life DNA: Time & Places account.
Children
Life DNA: Time & Places is not for children. Social features are for people aged 18 and over.
